“This seed is rich in fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Therefore, it aids digestion, regulates blood sugar absorption, reduces bad cholesterol (LDL), increases good cholesterol (HDL), fights premature aging of the skin and strengthens the bones, it also has anti-inflammatory properties”, explains the specialist.

Chia is also highly sought after by those who want lose weight. This is because, due to its nutritional values, it increases the sense of satiety and reduces caloric intake. That is, it is rather an ally in slimming!

How to add chia to food?

After learning about the amazing benefits of chia, one of the main questions that arises is how add seed to the menu and on a daily basis. And according to Meydson, it’s important to remember that when you add chia to your diet, you should also start paying even more attention to your daily hydration.

This happens for a very simple reason: since the semen absorbs liquids, it can cause dehydration. Furthermore amount of chia to be consumed must also be monitored.

“People should also be aware of excessive consumption, which can cause some side effects, such as digestive problems. Generally, it is recommended to consume up to 2 tablespoons a day,” guides the nutritionist.

As for which recipes to use to include chia in your diet, there is no need to worry, after all, the seed is very versatile. It can appear, for example, in shakesbreads, salads, cakes and biscuits.

However, the easiest way to include chia in your daily life is to include it in your consumption yogurt, smoothies or fruit salads. This can be used for both breakfast and mid-afternoon snacks.
