The idea is that, compared to young people, the level is very low and if there are symptoms related to low testosterone, such as a drop in libido, bad erections, no morning erections, low mood, indisposition, feeling tired, lack of energy, difficulty gaining muscle mass and losing weight, among others, need to be investigated.
How does it work the procedure?
Hormone replacement can be done in three ways: injectable with weekly applications; through a transdermal gel, used so that the testosterone penetrate the skin and be absorbed by the body; or with the application of hormone implants, which serve to continuously release the hormone defined for hormone replacement treatment. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages which can be discussed with the doctor, based on each patient’s needs and preferences.
Advantages of the technique
Several benefits can be achieved with male hormone replacement treatment. It ranges from sex life to the practice of physical activities. Among the advantages are:
- Layout improvement;
- Improved mood, considering that low testosterone levels can be confused with depression;
- Improved libido, erection and sexual performance;
- Increased sports performance;
- Better muscle recovery;
- Relief Burn fat;
- Ease in muscle toning.
Risks of treatment
In the past it was believed that there was a vascular risk. However, this is not true, as those with low testosterone levels are at a higher risk of developing vascular problems than people with adequate levels.
If hormone replacement is done correctly, the risk that exists is a possible increase in the rate of hair loss, but that can be easily controlled. Skin oiliness is another side factor. However, in general, the benefits of treatment end up being much greater.
