Proof of this is the data from the Brazilian Tennis Confederation (CBT), which manages the sport in the country: while in 2021 there were 400,000 beach tennis players, in 2022 that number reached 1.1 million, which is equivalent to an increase of 175%.
But, after all, why did this increase happen?
The truth is, in addition to being a fun activity, it’s simple and easy to learn. This is what explains the physiotherapist specialist in sports physiotherapy, Rodrigo Fádel.
“People learn to play very quickly and it becomes a fun time even for those who have never played. Furthermore, it is a great alternative to improve physical condition and quality of life in general,” says the professional.
Another positive point is that beach tennis is a democratic modality, as it can be practiced at all ages, subject to medical evaluation and authorization.
“It is necessary to analyze the condition of the joints, muscle strength and physical condition, to verify the aptitude and conditions to perform the sport. This guideline is valid for everyone, but mainly for pregnant women, people with advanced degrees of obesity or with pre-existing chronic diseases”, underlines the specialist.

Having said that, Fádel has listed the main benefits that are obtained from the practice of beach tennis, both for the health of the body and for the mind. Look down:

According to the physical therapist, the practice expends about 600 calories per hour of gameplay. Therefore, it helps in weight maintenance.
Improve physical conditioning
“Because it is usually practiced on sand, the sport requires greater effort from the legs, which helps to strengthen the limbs,” explains the professional.
“It also tones your arms and core from racket swings, causing more impact on your joints,” she adds.
