“Design and good ideas implemented in a coherent context can bring about amazing transformations,” he says.

Check out the tips that help small apartment owners complete their mission to have their own home:

1. Light colors provide spaciousness in the apartment

Combined with light tones, in this apartment, the architect Carina Dal Fabbro has invested in integrating the living room and dining room. She explains that applying the same shade of paint to cover the walls allows light to reflect, giving the impression of a larger, more airy space.

For the architect, the bet on clear tones, whether on the walls, the floor or the furniture, is common sense in interior design. But there is no shortage of reasons to take this provision literally. “The inclusion of stronger colors can appear a bit lump sum into the decorative details, adding a very cool charm to the decor,” he analyses.

2. Small kitchen – versatility with appliances and utensils

The combination of design and quality engineering is the secret of a kitchen that meets the needs of the resident. This is what the architect Carina Dal Fabbro has proposed in this project: a look that completes the environment. Carina opted for mint green and fendi gray and details on the kitchen cabinets in MDF wood. In the composition of the upper cabinet, the cabinets have received a light gray matt lacquer, in a result that has brought lightness and modernity.

Corridor kitchens are common in small apartments and cupboards can be the villain if they are over-placed.

“A narrow wall can hold shelves or a wardrobe with niches and drawers, being a great project option. I also recommend not adopting large appliances so that the spaces are filled in a coherent way”, evaluates Carina.

“I appreciate versatile furnitureas they help us in the task of optimizing spaces”, underlines Carina. She also suggests the use of tables and stools with logs, oven with microwave and tap with built-in filter, excellent for small environments.

3. Bet on niches

-

The niches are practical elements that help in the use of a wall or even a surplus. They are therefore fundamental pieces for the design of small spaces.

4. Smart carpentry

In this living room designed by architect Carina Dal Fabbro, the TV stand also acts as a buffet for storing the residents' belongings. Above, the niche with slatted furniture camouflages the air conditioning, as well as contributing to the furnishings.

Smart joinery follows the specific needs of the place to be installed and can offer multiple functions for the resident.

5. Less is more

-

Instead of filling the entire wall with a large sofa, the decision for a minor model contributed to the idea of offering a larger circulation area in the living room. The detail was due to the two colors on the wall.

6. Organization with shelves

Thinking of making the most of the space in this kitchen, the architect Carina Dal Fabbro replaced the upper wall units with shelves fixed to the walls. They extend from the side wall to the gable of the washbasin, providing more convenience for the residents' daily life.

Every inch counts in a small apartment, and an efficient way to do it increase the available space is to use the walls to store things.

“There are a variety of raised furniture, such as shelves, that can be installed on the walls to store things and free up floor space. In addition, the walls can be used to hang pictures, mirrors and other decorative items, making the room more welcoming and customized,” he concludes.
