The plastic surgeon explains that the technique helps reshape the abdomen
Liposuction is not a new technique, but it is constantly being improved to promote more aesthetic and natural results. New is UGraft liposuction, which can even improve muscle definition in the abdomen.
“Ultrasound Guided Fat Transfer (UGraft) is performed in combination with liposuction. In short, it is a procedure to remove localized fat from one location and transfer it to muscle tissue. With this, there is hypertrophy (gain) of this muscle, reshaping the abdomen for a more athletic appearance,” explains plastic surgeon Dr. Maurício Viaro, scientific director of BAPS (Brazilian Association of Plastic Surgeons).
The procedure can be performed on different areas of the body.
BAPS explains it the procedure it must be done in a hospital environment and, during the operation, in the operating room, an ultrasound is used to identify the muscle group (usually in the rectus abdominis) that you want to strengthen. “After liposuction, a graft of fat, rich in stem cells, is performed in order to obtain hypertrophy in that region,” says the scientific director of the association.
The Brazilian Association of Plastic Surgeons points out that the procedure can also be performed on the deltoid (shoulder), pectoral, biceps and triceps muscles, strengthening fat transfer techniques (lipografting) i’m safe.
The association recalls that autologous fat transfers, i.e. from the patient himself, have no risk of rejection and offers a filling totally natural and that really lasts. “With the technique, previously inaccessible muscle areas can now enhance the definition created by the volume of those muscles,” explains Dr. Mauritius.
More natural aesthetic result
Although they may look similar, the UGraft technique represents an advance over High Definition Liposuction (Lipo HD), as it promotes a more natural result. “UGraft complements and refines the high-definition technique; even patients who don’t have a very developednow they get a more natural aesthetic result,” explains the scientific director of BAPS.
In cases where the skin lacks firmness, plasma jet liposuction can be performed. This procedure, in addition to reducing fat, rearrange collagen, causes shrinkage and treats sag, according to BAPS. “With the technology, there is a controlled delivery of heat to the tissue, with rapid heating and nearly instantaneous cooling, which allows for efficiency in treating deep collagen retraction,” he says. “Recovery can take about a week when the procedures are combined,” concludes the scientific director of the association.
