Mom it is, today, one of the busiest districts of São Paulo, with an impressive amount of shops and restaurants – as well as being also home to the Shopping Ibirapuera, the oldest in the city, and bordering the most important park in the city. It is a neighborhood with many options for those who go there on the weekends and do various types of walks.
Discover, below, a selection of tours to do in Moema on weekends:
Ibirapuera Park
To begin with, one of the most important tours for those who want to visit Moema: Ibirapuera Park. The main park of the city of São Paulo, it is close to several neighborhoods of São Paulo: Vila Mariana, Vila Nova Conceição, Itaim Bibi and, of course, Moema. It is a good way to start the day of the weekend, taking a walk, visiting the historical points of the city and if possible also visiting an exhibition that is taking place at the Oca, the Ibirapuera Biennial or the beautiful Museu Afro Brasil.
Where: Av. Pedro Álvares Cabral, s/n. 5574-5045. 5am/11pm.
smorgasburg
And it is precisely in Ibirapuera that this weekend Smorgasburg is taking place, the largest creative gastronomy festival in New York, now in its third edition in Brazil. On July 22 and 23, 87 gastronomic establishments will be present at the Obelisco do Ibirapuera with a variety of dishes. Among the highlights of the event are American BBQ with Asian Dressing by Chefs Ligia Karazawa and Bruno Panhoca, Choripanes’ Chori Donut with The Good Cop Donut, Trem Doido’s Pernil Cheese Bread, Muamba’s São Paulo version of croque monsieur, and many more, which are among the 300 culinary creations you will taste for the first time. Free admission, with tickets bookable directly on the Ibirapuera festival website.
Where: Av. Pedro Álvares Cabral, s/n. 11am/7.30pm.
Kyoto
Don’t want or can’t go to the food festival? So rest assured – the neighborhood has other good dining options to enjoy the weekend. The first is Kiyota, one of the most traditional sushi houses in São Paulo. There you can order both omakase and rodizio (R$189 per person). In addition to the traditional sashimi, served in a bowl with lots of ice to keep it cool, the house offers some unmissable highlights. This is the case with salmon skin, one of the tastiest around here.
Where: dos Imarés, 542, Moema. 3554-4981. 12h/15h and 18h30/22h30 (closed on Mon.).
Coffee Journal
Don’t want to learn about Japanese food? Then choose the Italian one: the Café Journal immediately impresses with its sophisticated and very pleasant atmosphere. On the house menu, classic dishes and some reinterpretations. At the entrance, the arancini with brie and pepper jelly (R$ 49.90) and the croquette with gruyere and Parma ham (R$ 49.90) are very tasty. As a second course, a good option is the handmade linguine, served in Carbonara sauce in the Café Journal version, prepared with Parmesan fondue, bacon, pesto egg mound and Parma ham chips (R$ 72). Do you want some meat? A good starting point is the grilled Angus filet mignon medallion served with Dijon sauce (dijon and Ancienne mustard) served with battered potatoes with fleur de sel (from R$ 105).

Farabbud
One of the good options for Arabic restaurants in São Paulo is Farabbud. The house is small but welcoming, and has the typical menu of Arab restaurants: abundant and with variety. To begin with, two options are certain: the trio (which comes with three spreads of your choice, such as hummus and dry curd, for R$30 for half a portion) and the Quadra de Aces, which comes with the four most ordered dishes as starters (raw kibbeh, fried corn, trio of spreads and Arabian sausage, for R$88). The latter, on the other hand, only works for larger groups, as it only comes in a whole portion. For the main course, in addition to the good house sfihas, the traditional Torre de Babel is very tasty, which is a kind of cake with raw kibbeh, minced meat, tabbouleh, dried curd and crunchy golden onion on top (R$ 46 for half a portion, R$ 78 for the whole). It is eating while praying. Don’t want raw meat? Then opt for the house cigars, made with grape leaves or cabbage, at R$48 for the whole serving.

Bar do Alemao
To close the lunch suggestions, Bar do Alemão. The restaurant, born in the city of Itu, in 1902, is one of the main references in the city when it comes to parmigiana. No wonder: in addition to being filled, the dish comes with a sauce to be eaten while praying. For four people it costs 239 BRL or 89 BRL for the individual version. The place also has a good selection of typical German dishes, such as Schnitzel (breaded pork tenderloin, potato and red cabbage salad, R$69) and eisbein (pork knee with cracklings, R$189 for two).
