Singer Preta Gil began a series of preoperative examinations this Monday morning (8/14) at the Sírio-Libanês hospital, in São Paulo. The 49-year-old singer will undergo surgery to remove bowel cancer on Wednesday (8/16).

At around 7:20 am, the artist posted a video on Instagram Stories in which he appears in a wheelchair. “Good morning! [Estou] I’m going to do the pet scan,” he said, who was already wearing a protective face mask and showing access to his arm to receive the drugs.

A “pet scan” is an imaging test (tomography) that can detect tumors all over the body. “[É um] very important test to measure cancer cells in our body. Looking forward to the result,” added Preta.
