Rede D’Or hospitals offer international quality standards

The establishments are recognized for their quality indexes superior to those of other institutes of excellence in Brazil

Offering a standard of excellence in 73 hospitals, with a presence in 13 states and the Federal District, is a bold achievement. At Rede D’Or, the largest healthcare company in Latin America, this challenge is guaranteed by the most comprehensive Technical Quality Program in Brazil.

The methodology of the program involves the continuous monitoring of 50 quality indicators and the comparison of these results with those of the best private hospitals in the country, the numbers are discussed in monthly meetings – allowing for the identification of improvement opportunities, the rapid adoption of updated protocols and team development.

Recognition and transparency

The technical quality of Rede D’Or is recognized by various independent organizations (national and international). For example, the Joint Commission International (JCI), a world leader in the certification of healthcare institutions, has granted the seal of accreditation to 16 Rede D’Or hospitals, representing 31% of all Brazilian hospitals with this seal.

Another important certificate obtained by Rede D’Or is the Top Performer seal, granted by the Brazilian Association of Intensive Medicine (AMIB) and by Epimed Solutions. In the 2022 (most recent) results, out of the total intensive care units analysed, only 9% are part of the network. Those awarded the Top Performer seal, the most complete of certifications, are 1 out of 3 represented by Rede D’Or hospitals.

The quality indicators of the Rede D’Or even surpass those of other large hospitals of excellence in Brazil, according to data released by the National Association of Private Hospitals (Anahp). The rate of primary blood infection associated with the use of a catheter, for example, is twice as low in units in the network (see table).

Proud of its constant pursuit of process improvement, Rede D’Or is transparent about its results. At the beginning of the year, it was a pioneer in publishing its quality indicators in all major Brazilian newspapers. And now, in line with this commitment, it is again sharing its indicators for the first half of 2023 (see chart).

Every improvement is shared

The pursuit of technical excellence at Rede D’Or is based on the continuous exchange of knowledge between professionals. Daily meetings are held with specialists from different units to discuss complex cases, seeking to expand best practices to all Rede D’Or hospitals.
