The event coincided with the 2023 edition of the Venice Film Festival
Last weekend, the Italian designer Giorgio Armani promoted the “One Night Only” show at the “Serenissima”, which coincided with the 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival and brought together several special guests, such as the actress Italian Sophia Loren.
The cinema-inspired show brought the Armani Prive collection to the catwalk, with a selection of haute couture looks, including Venice-inspired dresses and pieces with harlequin print, sequins and bright colors.
The presentation took place at the city’s construction site, which replicates an itinerant format that takes the brand’s universe to the most important cities in the world, such as London, Tokyo, Beijing, Rome, New York, Paris and Dubai.
In addition to the diva of Italian cinema, other celebrities were present at the event, such as actresses Claudia Gerini, Caterina Murino, Jessica Chastain, Margherita Buy and Sydney Sweeney, actors Raoul Bova, Louis Garrel, Rege-Jean Page and directors Giuseppe Tornatore, Ang Lee, Ava DuVernay, Gabriele Salvatores, Luca Guadagnino.
Armani’s link with the Venice Film Festival dates back to 1990, the year of the world premiere of the documentary “Made in Milan”, directed by Martin Scorsese. The celebration of this bond also includes the renewal of the Armani Beauty partnership as main sponsor of the festival, for the sixth consecutive year.
The fashion show was also characterized by its low environmental impact, given that the luxury brand encouraged the use of LED lighting, the reuse of materials, separate waste collection, the non-use of single-use plastic and tried to avoid food waste.
All residual greenhouse gas emissions linked to the event will be offset by supporting environmental projects on the Venice lagoon managed by Sea the Change and Blue Valley.
The Armani group has also decided to support the non-profit organization and will make a donation to Venetian Heritage, to be used for the conservative restoration of a selection of works belonging to the collection of the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti at the Ca’ d’Oro.
The event is considered one of the most glamorous of the Venice Film Festival, in addition to the amfAr gala, which paid tribute to the African-American director DuVernay. .
