The Way Back: 5 Reasons to Watch the Series “Resurrected Ertugrul”

The key character of the series is Turkish leader Ertugrul Ghazi. He is a warrior who abandoned the nomadic way of life and took the first steps towards the creation of the Ottoman Empire. Not much is known about him, as there is no information in contemporary sources. Mentions of Ertugrul only appeared a century later.

Ertugrul began to conquer new territories in Asia Minor in the 13th century. In the series, he appears to us as a courageous, very honest and determined warrior. It delights and attracts the attention of the viewer. Trust me: exploring Ertugrul will be one of the most exciting events this summer.

The series depicts the Middle Ages in a very realistic way. The atmosphere is created by the sets, the luxurious costumes, the depiction of the life of nomadic tribes, the battle scenes and the horseback rides.

Filming of the first seasons took place in the village of Riva (Istanbul), located on the Black Sea coast. And they were big! A huge site (40,000 m²) was built especially for the series, where nomadic yurts were installed. And the palace locations in Aleppo are in a shoe factory in Beykoz. Seasons 3 and 4 of the series were filmed in the city of Nevsehir, where Cappadocia, popular with tourists, is located.

More than 1,000 costumes were sewn for the series, stunning headdresses with pendants and coins were created, sabers and shields were made. And the stuntmen of the Kazakh team “Nomad” took part in staging the fight scenes.

From the start, the acting is simply fascinating! You believe them at first sight, you start to impress some and hate others.

The role of Ertugrul was played by Engin Altan (“If I were a cloud”, “Romantic comedy”), his beloved Halime was played by Esra Bilgic (“Ramo”), for whom this film became his first movie. The film also stars the handsome Cengiz Coskun, whom you may have seen in the Russian project “Kept Women 4”, Hülya Darcan (“Dangerous Love”, “1001 Nights”), Osman Soykut (“Charmed”, “ The Promise”).

The actors underwent extensive training for their roles. In addition to studying the historical part, they had to learn horse riding, archery and sword fighting. The actors learned the stunts from stuntmen who arrived from Kazakhstan.

There are several interesting love lines in the series. There is love at first sight, unrequited feelings, the famous triangle and the endless wait for marriage. All scenarios have one thing in common: the purity of the relationship between a man and a woman.

The love episodes will make your heart beat faster and empathize with the characters. After all, Turkish actors are extraordinary at conveying feelings and emotions through their appearance, facial expressions and hand movements.

Turkish films are distinguished by one characteristic feature: a caring attitude towards parents. Similarly, in the series “Resurrected Ertugrul”, we see endless respect for the older generation. Heroes honor the traditions of the tribe and clan.
