The closing of Starbucks units leaves coffee enthusiasts looking for domestic and affordable options
With some Starbucks units closing due to filing for bankruptcy and seeking judicial recovery, many coffee and brand enthusiasts are concerned about where they can find the drink, with its quality and distinctive flavor.
Currently, Brazil has a variety of coffee shops offering coffee in its most diverse forms, with special flavors and even a unique Brazilian touch. With this in mind, we have listed five coffee shops to try that could be an alternative to Starbucks.
Cheirin Bao
Cheirin Bão is a franchise of Universal Franchising Holding, which joined the group in 2016, receiving a new concept which is today the main reason for its success.
Much more than just a specialty coffee, they have become specialists in providing unique moments and creating beautiful memories through sensations and aromas that bring back the best memories of our lives.
Café Culture
The Catarina brand founded in 2004 by the couple Joshua Stevens and Luciana Melo started with its own stores, entering the franchising market after having established itself well in Florianópolis and the region. Today it is also present in Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Rio de Janeiro, with more than 30 units.
The peculiarity of the chain that attracted affiliates is Café Cultura’s attention to the preparation of coffee, in the “Farm to Cup” format, i.e. from sowing the beans until reaching the cup. The partner producers of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo plant the coffee at altitudes above a thousand meters, whose beans will be sent to the Café Cultura Lab, the chain’s laboratory for roasting and preparing exclusive blends.
The varied menu celebrates coffee in different recipes, combined with dishes ranging from breakfast to dinner.
Bauducco House
The brand, born as a family business of Italian immigrants in Brazil and becoming one of the largest companies in the food sector, has also entered the coffee shop sector.
Offering dishes that have consolidated its name, Casa Bauducco has sliced panettone as its main dish, to be enjoyed with hot and iced coffee. With different franchising formats, the São Paulo brand already has more than 100 stores across Brazil, from large spaces to carts, in all regions.
Go to the cafe
The Curitiba Go Coffee chain was born in the capital of Paraná in 2017 and already has around 180 units open. At Go Coffee, the franchisee pays the franchise fee for the right to use the brand, but there is no monthly fee.
The company operates as a factory that distributes inputs and products, produces confectionery and develops beverage bases. Among the highlights on Go Coffee’s menu are the famous milkshakes, with an emphasis on caramel, made with cream or coffee, lots of caramel and finished with whipped cream.
Sterna Café
With the aim of democratizing specialty coffees, Deiverson Migliatti founded Sterna Café in 2015. The businessman combined references from different countries as inspiration to create the brand, which uses domestic beans with international extraction methods.
Acquiring companies such as the Breathe Coffee Co. roaster and a sweet and savory factory, it offers a varied menu presented in contemporary settings. There are more than 60 stores spread across Brazil, with a presence in Sao Paulo (where the brand emerged), Tocantins, Rio de Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná and Pernambuco.
