Wood, steel, bamboo, glass, leather, copper, smooth fabrics and other fabrics appear in this project designed by Andrea Chicharo
Designed by the architect Andrea Chicarothis apartment 500 m2 and six bedrooms, in Miami, surprises not only for its wide sea view – which surrounds the entire social area and can also be admired from the bathroom – but also for its sophisticated furnishings – which includes pieces signed by designers such as Antonio Citterio AND Paola Navoneamong others.
Home of a couple with three children, the idea was to create a modern residence, but which was still extremely comfortable. To achieve this objective, Andrea used a rich mix of materials, capable of contrasting cold and modern coverings with warmer and more welcoming ones. ” In the same environment there is wood and steel, bamboo and glass, leather and copper, smooth fabrics and other fabrics.…I did some research to find furniture with a more artisanal feel,” he says.
The color scheme – c inza, wood, natural leather and, in the living room and balcony, shades of blue – brings balance to the apartment, creating environments that serve both as a cool home, to welcome friends, and as a quiet space, which invites relaxation and contemplation of the sea.
For the living room floorthe architect opted for the layout Fishbone, which forms a zigzag on the floor, so as to fill the empty spaces. “In addition to being wooden and welcoming, it has this design that fills the gaps, given that the space is very large. I didn’t want to put a very smooth covering, like marble or porcelain, so as not to look like a shopping mall. Nor did I wanted to fill it with rugs,” he says.
To the Entrance hall of the house, the plasterboard walls were demolished and, in their place, Andrea created a curved panel with vertical sheets of translucent glassthat let natural light pass through.
Spacious, the room was divided into living room and home theater. The living room was decorated with Italian sofas and armchairs. Flexform – the Crono armchairs, made of wood with woven leather backrest, are the designer’s creation Antonio Citterio – in addition to the Scarlett round chaise longue, by the always Italian Poltrona Frau, and the coffee tables with marble tops by Molteni. “This chaise longue swivels, the idea is that the person can turn it to admire the view.”
The space also features a table for quick meals, the sculptural Clay, by the English designer Marc Krusin for Italian Desalto, in rigid polyurethane covered with volcanic rock. Around, the Wire chairs, in steel and leather, from the Scandinavian brand Overgaard and Dyrman.
Andrea also created a charming corner with the designer’s Manila chair Paola Navone for Italian Bastermade of bamboo, copper pipes and leather, and the Bell table, by the designer Sebastian Herkner and produced by the brand ClassicCon, which uses the fragility of glass as a base for the metal top that floats above. Also noteworthy is the Abraham Palatnik and, at the entrance to the bedroom corridor, the sculpture of Frida Baranek. In the home theater the mix of materials starts from the wall, covered with wood and marble panels.
In the dining room integrated into the kitchen, the look is casual, with a Porro wooden table and upholstered leather chairs, Claudio Bellini at Poltrona Frau. The belief, Rimadesio, is covered in graphite glass. Highlight for the lamp Study of the devices.
The rooms have modern and functional furnishings, a few decorative details add expressiveness to the proposal. In the couple’s suite, Andrea made diamond drawings on the walls, with wooden rulers. “The idea was to vary it, to no longer have a room with wallpaper and not have to put up a lot of photos to fill the space,” he says.
Also in the couple’s suite, the highlight is the Archibald armchair, with a classic and refined appeal (by the French designer Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau) and, in another room, the Nepal armchair, in white wool, by Paola Navone to the Baster. All beds are from Polyform.
In the very spacious double bathroom, the covering is in white marble, with gray and wooden details, which make the space more contemporary. Andrea brings the sea inside, through transparent glass walls. To “warm up” the environment, one wall was covered with a vertical garden, illuminated at night.
In shades of blue and green, the furniture created by the architect brings the colors of the sea to the balcony. Among the materials used in the project is wicker, predominant in outdoor furniture. Janus & Co.. The armchairs and round garden lounger from the designer’s Tosca collection Monica Armani for the Belgian Tribus, are also distinguished by the vertical braids made with wide strips of covered foam. The upholstered sofa and armchairs are from Ketall.
