After ten seasons on the GNT channel, Astrid Fontenelle and her ‘Arrivals and Departures’ arrive on open TV.

Starting next Sunday, November 26, the program will premiere as a five-episode series on Fantástico, on Globo. For the first time in the history of the program, in addition to Guarulhos Airport (SP), Astrid will also look for exciting stories at the Tietê bus terminal in the capital of São Paulo.

For Astrid, recording in the largest bus terminal in Latin America was “a wonderful experience, a little crazy, a little Fellini-esque”, where the interviewee is often someone who has just taken a 33-hour bus journey hours.

“We found a little lady who has early stage Alzheimer’s and didn’t know how old she was. But when I asked her what she was carrying, because I went to get her a bag and I couldn’t get up, she replied: ‘mango, I don’t have ‘It’s a better mango than my tube,'” recalls the presenter.

Even with the forced closure caused by the pandemic (the last season aired in March 2020), the former MTV VJ never gave up on his successful project and continued to insist on the return of the program.

“I think people need this exercise in empathy. It’s very difficult not to be moved by these stories,” Astrid describes in a note sent to Travel by fare about the partnership with ‘Fantástico’.

Arrivals and departures’

This time it will be Astrid herself who will feel the pain of separation, in an episode in which she says goodbye to her son Gabriel, who left on a trip abroad to do an exchange.

The mini season on open TV continues with the stories of a girl who leaves Brazil, for the first time, to work as a nanny in the USA, and that of a mother who, after living in London for a year, returns to Brazil to work a surprise to her eight-year-old son, who didn’t know she was coming to pick him up.

For the presenter it is “a program about the love of friends, fathers and mothers, family members and also about the absence of love”.

On GNT, every Thursday, starting from November 30th, the program will be broadcast in a longer version, at 11pm.
