7 Easy Ways to Clean Your Oven Without Using Chemicals
Method #1: Baking Soda and Vinegar
Cleaning the oven with vinegar and baking soda has been known to every Russian housewife since the times of the USSR, but it is also used in other countries. This is how, for example, the owner of a London cleaning company, Sean Parry, advises to act.
- Mix water and half a glass of baking soda to form a thick paste. If desired, add a few drops of orange essential oil there – it not only smells pleasant, but also contains powerful antimicrobial compounds.
- Apply the paste to the bottom, sides and door of the oven (avoid heating elements if you have an electric range).
- Leave the paste for two hours, or better yet, overnight.
- Spray the oven with a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar. As Perry explains, the acid in the vinegar will react with the baking soda, creating a foaming process that will remove set-in stains.
- After 30 minutes, remove the baking soda and vinegar mixture with a cloth or rubber spatula, then wipe the oven with a damp microfiber cloth.
