Considered one of the best destinations for bicycle tours according to Chile.travel, Chile’s official tourism promotion body, the south of the country is the perfect address to take a long-distance bicycle tour through “impressive wilderness “.
The largest circuit of this type in all of Chile is located in the Lakes Region and hosts the Llanquihue Cycle Route, 82 kilometers long, on the banks of the lake of the same name which gives its name to the circuit, connecting the cities of Puerto Varas, Frutillar, Puerto Octay and Las Cascadas.
It is there, for example, that the classics of Chilean tourism are found, such as the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park and Lago Todos Los Santos.
Petrohué River
This four-hour round trip travels 32.5 km, round trip, to the starting point of one of the Lakes Region’s best-known activities: rafting on the Río Petrohué.
Carried out in the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, the aquatic activity lasts 50 minutes and passes through grade 3 and 4 rapids, out of a total of 5 categories. On clear days it is possible to see the Osorno, Calbuco, Puntiagudo and Yates volcanoes.
Petrohué waterfalls
It lasts four hours and is 51 kilometers long.
The tour begins near the city of Ensenada and deviates north to follow the Petrohué waterfalls, waterfalls that fall onto a base of lava that arrived from the Osorno volcano.
On this route the visitor enjoys the view of the Osorno volcano and its surroundings lahar (displacements of volcanic materials), the ashes of the eruption of the Calbuco volcano and the powerful Petrohué river.
Canopy Falls
It is 60 kilometers of cycling, lasting 5h30, going around Lake Llanquihue to find the largest canopy of Chile and one of the three largest in South America.
On this zip line, at the foot of the Osorno volcano and on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. the participant creates a circuit of 14 platforms, on cables more than 90 meters high.

Kayak La Poza
At 29km long, which can be covered in around four hours, visitors pedal to Puerto Varas, where they head to the Poza sector for a kayak trip across the lagoon.
Playa Venado fund
The shortest route of the itineraries is 3h30min long and 23.7km long.
Guests cycle to the Playa Venado farm, where they are invited to carry out daily field activities, such as visiting the sheep, cultivating the agroecological vegetable garden, as well as taking advantage of the dairies to learn about the food production and preparation process.
