Ingredients for the fake croque madame
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1/2 cube of vegetable broth
- 1 1/2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 2 cups (tea) of milk
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 6 slices of bread without crust
- 4 slices of ham
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese for sprinkling
- 2 fried eggs
- margarine to grease
Method of preparation
In a pan, heat the butter and melt the vegetable broth. Add the cornstarch dissolved in the milk. Adjust the seasoning and stir until thickened. Reserve. In a greased pan, place a slice of bread and then a portion of bechamel. Arrange a layer of chopped ham and another slice of bread. Add another layer of sauce and ham and finish with the sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake in a preheated oven until golden brown. Place a freshly fried egg, with a soft yolk, on top of each bun before serving.
