Beefbar bartender Ricardo Takahashi Paulon teaches you the basics of creating your own drinks
If you’ve ever had the opportunity to observe a bartender in action, you’ve probably noticed that making beautiful, balanced cocktails isn’t exactly the easiest task in the world. But don’t worry, if you want to prepare drinks at home, just start with a few simple tips and everything will work. We spoke to Beefbar bartender Ricardo Takahashi Paulon who detailed the steps to start brewing and creating drinks to call your own in the comfort of your own home, check it out:
Tools: The first step is to separate the material to prepare your drink. “Dispensers, even culinary ones, are essential, as is the shaker, which can be the one we use for shakes,” she says.
Entrances: The more ingredients you have available, the greater your palate’s repertoire will be and the greater your possibilities for creating flavours.
Flavor memories: The advice is to try many different drinks and desserts to create your own tastes. “That watermelon-lemon bubblegum could become a watermelon-lemon caipirinha, it would work really well. From the mint pineapple juice, you could come up with the idea of a mint pineapple syrup,” she explains.
Use a story: Along with the memory of your taste, everything tastes better if the drink has a story that you will remember fondly. An example is if in childhood you drank an unforgettable strawberry juice with your grandmother and, therefore, you run the risk of creating a drink pairing that will make you remember that moment.
Organization: Leave all the necessary ingredients and utensils in front of you so as not to get lost while preparing the drink.
Decoration: According to Takahashi, a well-decorated cocktail is already delicious even before you have tasted it. “PANCs (unconventional food plants) are widely used because they are easily available and beautiful for decoration. Seasonal fruits are also a great option. The cherry, for example, looks very minimalist and beautiful in your Manhattan,” he says .
Cups and bowls: The attire of the drink is the glass, so it is worth separating beautiful glasses and glasses.
Agency: To make everything better, it is worth calling friends and preparing your drinks for everyone, so they too can give you advice and help you create new flavors.
