Gratin sausage: the practical alternative for lunch

Gratin sausage recipe

Preparation time: 1 hour

Performance: 6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of oil
  • 1kg Tuscan sausage, sliced
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • 2 chopped tomatoes
  • 500 g cassava cubes
  • 1 cup (tea) water
  • Salt and chopped green chilli to taste
  • 100 g of grated mozzarella
  • 100 g of grated parmesan

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon wheat flour
  • 1 cup milk (tea)
  • Salt and nutmeg to taste
  • 1/2 pack of cream (100g)

Preparation method:

  1. For the sauce, heat a pan with butter over medium heat and fry the flour until yellow.
  2. Add the milk and cook, stirring until it thickens.
  3. Season with salt and nutmeg and mix.
  4. Add the cream, bring to the boil and turn off the heat.
  5. Heat a pan with oil over medium heat and fry the sausage until it starts to brown.
  6. Add the onion, garlic and pepper and sauté for 3 minutes.
  7. Add the tomato and cassava and sauté for another 2 minutes.
  8. Add water, season with salt and green chillies and cook until softened.
  9. Transfer to a refractory dish and cover with the béchamel sauce.
  10. Sprinkle with cheese and place in a preheated medium oven for 10 minutes to brown.
