Which fruits help prevent Alzheimer’s? Nutritionist guides

Consumption that brings satisfactory long-term effects

Alzheimer’s disease is progressive and impairs memory and other thinking skills. Furthermore, its symptoms usually appear after the age of 60. Its cause is still unknown, but some say it is genetic. At the same time, questions about risk reduction always arise. For example, which fruits help prevent Alzheimer’s

Look at the fruits that help prevent Alzheimer’s

“Blueberries, strawberries and grapes contain antioxidants called polyphenols, which may help fight oxidative stress in the brain. Associated with aging and some neurodegenerative conditions. Fruits like avocados are sources of healthy fatty acids, which play a role in health of the brain”, explains nutritionist at the Cajuru and São Marcelino Champagnat University Hospitals Marcella Oliveira.

However, it should be clarified that there is no exact quantity of fruit to consume for this type of prevention. This does not exclude the suggestion of consuming three to four different portions during the day as part of a balanced diet.

Another addition is that fruit is a key part of a healthy eating plan. They can play a role in brain health and, at the same time, some research highlights their effectiveness in this work.

“Some studies suggest that some fruits rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds could have benefits in the prevention of degenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s,” concluded Marcella.

The value of exercise in preventing Alzheimer’s

Smoking, diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity are among the main aggravating factors of this irreversible brain disorder, which is another reason to create or maintain healthy habits for good health, such as a light diet and routine physical activity.

“Exercise is important, as several studies have associated physical activity with a delay in the progression of dementia. The exact mechanism is not well known, but randomized clinical trials have shown that regular physical activity plays a role in prevention of Alzheimer’s disease in the pre-operative age. -clinical phase”, admitted Dr. Carlos Alexandre Twardowschy, neurologist at the Universitário Cajuru e São Marcelino Champagnat, in contact with Sport Life.

Carlos went on to say that sport reduces cognitive decline, improves issues such as mortality and function, reduces falls and positively affects mood.

He also added that when it comes to full-blown dementia, there are no sufficient ways to stop it, but aerobic exercise is still recommended.

“The practice of aerobic physical activity for 20 minutes, three times a week and in which the heart rate reaches 80% of the age-predicted maximum is sufficient for a preventive cognitive response to dementia,” concluded Dr. Carlos Alexandre Twardowschy.

Data from the Ministry of Health shows that approximately 1.2 million people live with this disease and that at the same time there are 100 thousand new cases diagnosed.
