Carol Trentini, Alessandra Ambrosio, Cintia Dicker, Marlon Teixeira, Shirley Mallmann and Candice Swanepoel are internationally renowned models and were once new faces. They are all part of the Way Model team, led by businessman Anderson Baumgartner, who launched them into their modeling careers. And precisely to give opportunities to new faces, the agency organized the event on Wednesday evening (13th), in Sao Paulo Generation MODE.
The fashion show held in the ‘Rooftop em Casa’ space presented 20 new faces of the agency with a focus on the next fashion season, for guests of the segment, such as SPFW creative director Paulo Borges. “The goal is to show the market the importance of models in the casting of fashion shows, campaigns and editorials in magazines. Being a model is giving life to the art of fashion, lending your soul to the materialization of creative visions, in an expressive dialogue that spans generations,” reflects Anderson, who discovered her calling as a model manager in the 1990s, following the emergence of supermodels.

Present in the area for over 25 years, the owner of Way Model, an agency founded in 2007, recently spoke with “Them on the red carpet” on what the profession is like today and gave some advice for those who want to start a career in the sector. “Things have changed a lot. When I started we had meetings with the model and told them to stay silent in the studio, to speak only if they allowed it. The client didn’t want the model to give an opinion. Today the model has to position herself, show his lifestyle, show who he is. Nobody wants to work with people who only party on social media,” Anderson said.

And he went further. “Fashion goes from cotton to the final consumer, it’s a whole chain. This model will represent the work of many people: who is this girl? What does she do? If the consumer doesn’t identify with her, he won’t buy” the clothes, the shoes .”

Dando, as he is affectionately called, also recalled the opening of the market to, among others, plus-size, black and indigenous models. “Today we have plus-size and curvy models, which is wonderful. They have wonderful representation. It’s opened up a very wide range of people to work in this area,” he said.

She also recalled that when she started working at the Marilyn agency in the 1990s, there were only two black models. Today, SPFW calls for 50% Afro-descendant and indigenous models. “It’s wonderful. These models bring our culture to the world and show that Brazil is truly diverse. After all, more than 50% of our population is black and indigenous. We need to show that Brazil is,” he concluded.
