7 types of chakras and how they affect emotions

Holistic therapist how their imbalance can affect different aspects of life

Chakras are energy centers located along the spine and the human body, according to the spiritual and philosophical tradition of Hinduism and Buddhism. They are considered connection points between the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies and each is associated with different aspects of the human experience.

When it comes to chakra balancing, it is as if we are preparing our land for planting and harvesting. ā€œIf you want to be happy, for example, it is happiness that you must plant. However, it is possible to plant and harvest happiness only in fertile soil. And this fertile soil is our energy. So balancing our chakras is preparing the earth for then being able to plant what you want to harvest”, teaches the holistic therapist Mariana Tortella.

Below, discover each of the 7 chakras!

1. Basic Chakra

Mariana Tortella explains that the first chakra is located at the base of the spine and is called basilar, or red. It is related to issues of material life, such as family, money, employment, prosperity, home, security and food.

ā€œThe red chakra has everything to do with happiness, as a person possesses it base chakra out of balance has many blocks. She has difficulty evolving professionally, financially, she has difficulty chasing her dreams, she is disconnected from this material energy, “says the therapist.

2. Sacral Chakra

Just above the base chakra is the orange sacral chakra, which is located just below the navel. It is related to our creative ability in every way: facing problems, finding a solution, starting something new, getting our hands dirty.

“The sacral chakra is like the battery of our cell phone. So, when it is out of balance, we run out of energy, we procrastinate, no vitality. It also has to do with the pleasures of life, such as working, being alive, waking up, being with your family, chasing your dreams, in short”, explains Mariana Tortella.

A person who wants to be happy is looking for something. But if her sacral chakra is out of balance, she doesn’t have the energy to seek happiness, since she doesn’t take pleasure in small things, like being alive and healthy.

3. Umbilical Chakra or Solar Plexus

This chakra is yellow like the sun, so it is very bright and light. It is related to family, relationships and emotions. When it is blocked, we start to have problems with our family and have difficulty managing our emotions. Therefore, having the solar plexus chakra in balance leads to the ability to manage emotions; you if it makes a person happier and relates better to people.

“There are people who, when it’s raining, cloudy or dark, for example, don’t feel so much happiness. And this solar plexus chakra, which is like the sun, is exactly that. If it’s turned off and blocked, it’s as if the person was without sun”, comments the therapist.

The heart chakra is related to love

4. Heart Chakra

This chakra is green, located in the heart region and is related to love. “It is the chakra of self-love, of evolution, of self-knowledge and love of others, of love of life. The person who is unhappy, or who seeks happiness, needs to have the chakra of the heart in balance, because it will become itself – knowing and taking better care of itself. And when you have self-love it is possible to develop the ability to love others and life”, says Mariana Tortella.

This chakra also keeps us in the present. Typically, a depressed person is very worried about the past, with the problems he has already experienced, while an anxious person lives in the future, worried about tomorrow. Therefore, have this chakra in balance provides happiness because the person is happy with life and feels satisfied.

5. Throat Chakra

The throat chakra is located in the throat region and is linked to expression, communication and expressing who we are. It is blue in color. A happy person is one who knows how to be herself, she doesn’t hold back her expressions and says what she thinks.

6. Front Chakra

The forehead chakra is located right in the head region, in the center of the forehead. It is purple in color. It is related to our mind, thoughts, memories and learning. If it is out of balance, the person has uncontrolled thinking and ends up lose clarity and concentration. Anyone who wants to be happy needs to be clear about what he wants in life, where he wants to go and what he wants to do.

“Those who have this chakra in balance have a better memory and are able to develop better on a mental level, especially since most of our problems start in the head,” explains the therapist.

7. Crown Chakra

The crown chakra is pink in color. It is located at the top of the head and connects us with spirituality, with the purpose of life and with the mission of every person on Earth. “This is one of the reasons why there are people who spend their whole lives unhappy, because they don’t know who they are, what their mission is, what they came here to do. It’s the crown chakra that makes us find ourselves. So it needs to be in balance in order for us to connect with our purpose,ā€ says Mariana Tortella.
