Osesp turns 70 with special programming in April


Anime soundtracks and Rita Lee tribute are part of the month that kicks off the 2024 season

The year 2024 will be special in terms of ephemeris Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (Ossp). in addition to Osep itself celebrates 70 years, the Osep Choir celebrates 30 years of activity and Hall of St. Paul 25 years ago. With this taste of celebration, the 2024 season will begin in April.




The German conductor Alexander Liebreich and the English pianist Paul Lewis will open the agenda from the 4th to the 6th with the Schubert Festival. On the 7th, Lewis returns to the stage for a solo recital, also in homage to the work of Franz Schubert.

On April 13, the guest São Paulo Big Band will perform a tribute to Rita Lee with singers Fernanda Abreu and Paula Lima. The presentation is part of the fifth season of the project “Historical Encounters in the São Paulo Room”.

After the specials dedicated to film soundtracks and video games, this year the Osep focuses on music composed for successful Japanese animations. Called “Anime Symphony,” the project will have performances from the 18th to the 21st.

Another project returning in April is “Coro na Capital”. Between the 25th and 27th, the Osep Choir and the director-preparator William Coelho will sing in three Fábricas de Cultura of the capital, in the neighborhoods of Itaim Paulista, Sapopemba AND Tiradentes City.

A Osep invites the maestro Christoph Koncz and the famous pianist Víkingur Ólafsson to a program with Villa-Lobos, Schumann and Schönberg from the 25th to the 27th. To conclude, on the 28th Ólafsson will be the protagonist of a solo recital playing the Goldberg Variationsby Johann Sebastian Bach.

Free programming

Also keep an eye on the free “Morning Concerts” series: the shows always take place on Sundays, at 10.50 am, at Hall of St. Paul. Tickets are distributed online starting from 12:00 on the Monday before the concert.

Furthermore, the performances of Osep TO Hall of St. Paul of the 5th, 19th and 26th, as well as the “Historic Meeting” of the 13th, will be broadcast live on the Orchestra’s YouTube channel, as part of the “Digital Concerts” project.
