Lack of endorphins causes low pain tolerance, feelings of sadness and lack of motivation.

“Oxytocin deficiency is still associated with postpartum depression. This is because, during the birth of the baby, it plays an important role in mother-baby bonding and mood regulation,” says Stankevicius.

Keep in mind that dopamine is linked to the brain’s reward system and the feeling of pleasure and reward, that is, a low amount of this hormone is associated with depression.

How to increase these hormones in the body?

“A healthy diet plays an important role in the production of these hormones, as foods rich in tryptophan, such as fish, eggs, nuts and seeds, can help increase serotonin levels,” concludes Mayara Stankevicius.
