The expert advises how to keep the skin hydrated and recommends procedures to improve home care
Cold, dry weather can malnourish and dehydrate your skin due to the loss of moisture in the air. But anyone who thinks that low temperatures are the enemy of beauty is wrong. This period is ideal for investing in beauty treatments, which can be great allies for self-esteem.
“Colder days stimulate demand in clinics and the most recommended treatments for this season are rejuvenation, which requires patients to spend time away from the sun. Ideally, take advantage of the cold weather for even better results,” advises Thainara Porto, clinical commercial consultant at HTM Eletrônica.
To strengthen skin care during the low temperature season, the professional has listed simple and very effective tips to protect your skin from the cold. Watch!
1. Know your skin type
Before investing in home care products, one piece of advice is to know and choose the ideal cosmetic for your skin type. Therefore, the proper treatment will enhance the results, depending on your facial features. When the product is chosen incorrectly, the active ingredients will work contrary to what the skin needs, encouraging inadequate responses.
2. Invest in care that guarantees hydration
When it’s cold, it’s important to take care of your skin and invest in procedures that ensure hydration and stimulate the skin’s collagen production, such as crystal and diamond peeling, which promote cellular renewal of the epidermis.
Again according to Thainara, during the colder seasons, the exfoliation process is fundamental and can be done at home simply and without high costs. “Exfoliation eliminates dead cells and causes cell renewal. After the process, the skin is silky, soft and ready to receive hydration”, comments the specialist.
3. Avoid “hot” baths and drink plenty of water
Very hot, long baths during cold days are tempting, but they can end up removing the skin’s hydrolipidic coat – a moisturizer produced by the body itself that acts as a protective layer – and cause even more dryness.
Additionally, people tend not to feel thirsty on these days, but hydration becomes even more necessary in dry weather. Drinking water is another beauty tip to keep your body and skin hydrated.
4. Invest in beauty care
Today the market has several technologies that contribute to facial rejuvenation, hydration and skin tone. When possible, investing in beauty treatments and using technology as an ally to improve home care is an excellent option.
5. Continue to use sunscreen
Even in the coldest times of the year, it is essential to use sunscreen to aid skin care. “Ultraviolet radiation, even in autumn and winter, causes damage that compromises the skin’s support structure, causing the premature appearance of wrinkles and sagging, as well as imperfections”, explains Thainara.
The guideline continues to be to reapply sunscreen every four hours indoors and every two hours during direct photoexposure, except when exposed to synthesize vitamin D, essential for health and beauty.
