High season: Discover the countries of origin of tourists in Brazil

A survey by the Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism shows which countries tourists who visited Brazil between December 2023 and February 2024 came from.

Brazil received 2.41 million visitors during the high season, when summer attracts for the beauty of the landscapes, especially the beaches.

It is also during this period that the end-of-year festivities, including the famous New Year’s Eve in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, constitute a strong attraction for a visit to Brazil.

And the season also embraces February, with the lure – irresistible for many – of the carnival, both in Rio de Janeiro and in the Northeastern states where the celebrations are effervescent: Bahia and Pernambuco.

In total, foreign tourists spent $2.1 billion (R$10.6 billion) in Brazil, boosting the economy in several sectors.

In the Top 10 countries with the most tourists to Brazil in the period, four neighbors from South America appear, for a total of 1,488,131 people. Argentina’s dominance stands out. The brothers were by far our most frequent visitors.

Europe has 5 countries in the list of the 10 largest visitors to Brazil in the period, for a total of 292,307 people arriving from abroad. And in this segment, Portugal stands out, the most widespread European here.
