In the early hours of this Thursday (6), the awards ceremony for the 50 best restaurants in the world took place in Las Vegas (USA). Considered the “Oscar” of gastronomy, the ranking brings together the 50 best restaurants in the world, elected by a specialized jury, made up of professionals from the restaurant sector, sector journalists and opinion makers.




Of the top ten restaurants in the ranking, led by Barcelona restaurant Disfrutar, three are in Spain and one in the Basque Country. Restaurants in Copenhagen, Paris, Bangkok, New York and Mexico City also top the list. And, in the top ten, there are two representatives from Latin America: one from Lima, Peru, and the other from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Brazilian restaurants on the list, A Casa do Porco (SP) and Oteque (RJ), ranked 27th and 37th, respectively.

1. Enjoy (Barcelona, ​​Spain)

Commanded by the trio of chefs formed by Oriol Castro, Eduard surprises and delicious in equal measure. Located in the French capital, the restaurant room, which occupies third place in the 50 Best ranking, has as its main attraction the wave-shaped counter, which embraces the open kitchen – the territory of chef Bruno Verjus. One of the specialties on the menu, which changes depending on the seasonality of the ingredients, is the unusual Peruvian chocolate tart with caper and caviar infusion. The tasting costs 400 euros (approximately R$2,295) per person.

4. Diverxo (Madrid, Spain)

The restaurant, which occupies the fourth position in the 50 Best ranking, is managed by chef Dabiz Muñoz. Creative and unpredictable, as they usually define it, it presents avant-garde cuisine, with Asian influences, which promises to offer an unforgettable experience to its customers. Called “la cocina de los cerdos voladores” (the cuisine of flying pigs, in loose translation), the seasonal tasting menu costs 450 euros (around R$2,595, per person), per person.

5. Maido (Lima, Peru)

In addition to occupying fifth place in the list of the best in the world, the restaurant located in the Peruvian capital is the current champion of the Latin American edition of 50 Best. Consisting of two rooms, a cocktail bar and a 14-seat counter, the restaurant which occupies sixth place in the 50 Best ranking specializes in Korean cuisine. Korean chef Junghyun Park evokes his culinary heritage to develop his innovative dishes with a touch of sophistication. The 12-course menu costs 395 dollars (approximately R$ 2,079) per person.

7. Quintonil (Mexico City, Mexico)

In his restaurant, ranked seventh among the best in the world, chef Jorge Vallejo presents an original menu based on the classics of Mexican cuisine. And Anand’s good humor is reflected in the menu, which includes everything from suggestions for eating with your hands to those that allow you to lick the plate, without any ceremony. The menu costs 16,000 Thai baht (about R$2,306) per person.

10. Don Julio (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

In addition to reaching tenth place in the 50 Best ranking, Pablo Rivero also won the award for best sommelier. Like many restaurants in Buenos Aires, the house specialty is grilled barbecue, but the difference lies in the high quality of the ingredients, which range from livestock to organic, home-grown vegetables.
