Why is bronchiolitis more common in cold seasons?

During the colder months, people tend to spend more time in closed, poorly ventilated places, facilitating the transmission of various types of viruses, including those that cause bronchiolitis. RSV (respiratory syncytial virus)rhinovirus and parainfluenza virus type 3.

Furthermore, cold, dry air ends up drying out the airways, making them more vulnerable to infections. These factors create the perfect scenario for the spread of respiratory viruses.

Infectious disease specialist André Ricardo Araújo explains that, during autumn, cases of respiratory infections increase and especially affect children under two years of age.
