METERS
cup = 240 ml, spoon = 15 ml, teaspoon = 10 ml, teaspoon = 5 ml
Ingredients Apple of Love without colorings (with red beetroot)
– 2 medium apples
– 75 g of fresh beetroot, peeled and chopped (1 medium unit or 1 ½ small unit for every 2 portions)
-175 ml of water
– 300 g of sugar (1 cup and 1/4 of tea per 2 servings)
– 1 teaspoon(s) of vinegar THE
Ingredients FOR GREAKING
-oil to taste (optional)
PREPARATION:
- Set aside the utensils and ingredients for the candied apples without dyes (with red beetroot) recipe. Choose a pan proportionate to the number of servings you are preparing, so you can easily soak the apples.
- The amount of syrup in this recipe is enough to cover 2 medium apples. With a little practice, it’s best to make the recipe in small batches, 2 at a time, repeating as necessary, as you need to work quickly as the syrup hardens as it cools.
- Another important point is that as you use syrup, bathing in small quantities becomes more difficult. Therefore, if you find it convenient, increase the quantity of syrup to facilitate the process.
- Given the previous considerations, separate the ingredients and utensils of the recipe.
- Grease a baking tray with oil or line it with good quality baking paper, shiny side up.
- Wash the apples well and dry them.
- Stick an ice cream stick into each apple at the top. It fits well: it must be very firm.
- Peel the beets and cut them into small pieces.
- Place the beets in the blender with a little water (see quantities in the ingredients) and blend well.
- Strain the beetroot juice using a fine sieve or clean cheesecloth. Measure the amount of juice needed for the recipe: 185 ml for every 2 portions (exact amount).
PREPARATION:
Apple of Love without coloring (with red beetroot):
- Place the sugar, beetroot juice, water (if necessary) and vinegar in a pan, making sure that these ingredients fill ⅓ of the height of the pan (it is not recommended to exceed this limit because the mixture boils and could overflow).
- Mix the ingredients well off the heat and cook over medium heat, without stirring, so that the syrup does not become sugary. Rotate the pan occasionally. The total process takes about 10-15 minutes.
- Leave a small bowl of water nearby to test the consistency of the syrup (see point 6).
- After the mixture boils, leave it for a few more minutes until it reaches hard candy point (about 150°C – use a kitchen thermometer if you have one) or check by dripping a little syrup into the small bowl of cold water . waterfall; If it forms a hard ball it is ready.
- It is very important to reach the aforementioned sweet point, so that the sweet apple becomes crunchy.
- Turn off the heat and keep the mixture in the pan, working quickly.
- Carefully take each apple by the toothpick and dip it in the beetroot syrup – tilt the pan slightly if necessary – and rotate the apples until they are completely covered.
- Allow the excess to drip off a little and quickly place the apples on the baking tray(s) greased with oil or lined with baking paper.
- Wait for it to cool slightly until the apple topping is firm, very crunchy and glazed.
FINALIZATION AND ASSEMBLY:
- Allow the apples to cool and allow the syrup to harden completely before serving.
