The renovation project was led by architect Rodrigo Cardoso and was inspired by luxury hotel rooms.

This apartment 48 sqmlocated in Praia do Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, faced two central challenges for the renovation: a pizza-slice-shaped floor plan and a small square footage.

Since the apartment is small, the client asked for a compact kitchen integrated into the living room in a discreet way and the construction of a WC which was not present in the original project, in addition to the bathroom of his suite. “We knocked down all the walls to create the new plant layout, removed the plasterboard ceilings and replaced the coverings. Furthermore, we automated the apartment and installed a ducted air conditioning system”, he informs Rodrigo Cardosoproject Manager.

The architect was inspired by luxury hotel room, with integrated and welcoming spaces. To recreate the aesthetic, he opted for noble and warm materials, such as Travertine marble which covers the entire floor of the apartment and the natural freijó leaf, present in the carpentry finishes.

In the decoration, which follows a contemporary, minimalist and timeless style, all parts are new. The custom-designed joinery performs a variety of functions, such as camouflaging kitchen utensils, separating the social area from the intimate one, demarcating television niches and mimicking access doors to bathroom, suite and bedroom closets.

OR L-shaped sofalocated in the living room, was also designed by the architect and made of brickwork, finished with gray texture and linen upholstery. The curtains were made of white linen gauze, ensuring soft and cozy sunlight throughout the space.
