Remember that it is never too late to start an active physical life.
In short, aerobic exercise is continuous. And it uses oxygen as its main source of energy and some of its examples are running, walking, dancing. In addition to this concept, there is a study that guarantees that aerobics with resistance training (bodybuilding) improves the health of middle-aged and older women.
Aerobics with resistance training improves women’s health
Those who support this thesis are the Chinese researcher couple Youming Zhang and Gaohua Zhang. Which is also connected to the educational institutions of China Mudanjiang Normal University and Wuhan Sports University respectively.
Youming and Gaohua stated that lack of exercise has a negative impact on the quality of life of middle-aged and elderly women. Therefore, they explored this topic to find out the effects of aerobic exercise with strength training on the body condition of middle-aged and elderly women.
20 middle-aged and older women participated in an experimental group. Those followed the exercise routine of one every two days from 5 to 6 pm. The experimental group performed aerobic exercise combined with strength training, while the other control group performed aerobic walking. The experiment lasted two months for a total of 30 sessions.
Soon after, these Chinese scholars discovered that: “the body fat percentage in the experimental group decreased from 35.10±3.436% to 30.07±3.104%; BMI (body mass index) reduced from 24.98±2.870 kg/m² to 24.25±3.251 kg/m²; mean bone mineral density increased from 1.20±0.284 g/cm3 to 1.21±0.278 g/cm3″.
Given these effects, the scientists concluded that combining aerobic exercise with resistance training improves both the physical condition of middle-aged and older women, as well as bone density and optimization of sports practice.
