Want to get rid of cellulite? Perhaps the secret is more “basic” than you think: eat well. Dermatologist Máira Mariano Astur explains that cellulite is an inflammatory process of the skin associated with changes in lymphatic circulation, which ends up evolving into the “orange peel” appearance.




According to the dermatologist, there are several reasons that link cellulite to poor nutrition. For example, if you eat foods that cause fluid retention, cellulite worsens, but the opposite effect is also true.

It is recommended to drink at least one and a half to two liters of water a day, low-fat, sugar-free and low-salt foods, as well as adding fruit, vegetables and legumes to the menu.

The doctor emphasizes, however, that eliminating certain foods from the menu is not enough for cellulite to disappear. “There is also the question of genetics, the extent of the disease, the patient’s lifestyle – whether she does physical activity, smokes, etc.,” he reflects.

Finally, the doctor emphasizes that without a balanced diet it is not possible to obtain good responses with other treatments. However, it is necessary to evaluate each case individually.
