Six weeks after Daniella Hampton had a copper intrauterine device (IUD) inserted in 2009, the object disappeared from her body. After 12 years, in 2021, she found the IUD inside her anus.

“I never stopped believing it was still there. I talked to other professionals about it, but when I told them I had an ultrasound, they didn’t think anything of it. According to her report to the newspaper, the IUD was found only after she had a car accident and needed an X-ray to check her health. That’s when doctors found the object inside her colon; it migrated there after perforating her uterus.

In September 2021, Daniela underwent surgery to remove the device and gave birth to her second child, Champion Hampton, in 2024. “I tried for nine years to get pregnant and I couldn’t. And here I am now… I don’t think it was a coincidence,” she said.

According to the interview, Daniella today encourages women to trust and listen to their bodies. “The only form of birth control that I use and feel comfortable with is the pill, because I know that I can stop taking it at any time,” she said.
