Who designed Brazil’s Olympic uniform?
The uniforms for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2024 Olympics were designed and manufactured by the Brazilian retail chain Riachuelo. It also designed the travel clothes for the Brazilian delegation to the Paris Olympic Games.
The most common criticism about the clothes designed to represent Brazil at the Olympics is that they are very simple compared to the uniforms of other delegations. The Italian uniform, for example, was designed by the Italian luxury brand Emporio Armani.
In addition to complaints from Internet users on social media, many athletes were dissatisfied with the style and combinations of the clothes. One of them was Olympic champion and former volleyball player Márcia Fu, who disapproved of the choice of clothes, saying that it does not represent Brazil and that athletes deserve better.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I couldn’t have said it, but I said it. I didn’t like it. Terrible taste. Help me, man, it’s garbage. Help me, that Brazil uniform is really ugly. I think the girls deserved better, our delegation definitely deserved better,” she said in a video posted to her YouTube channel.
The COB takes a stand
Last Monday (22), the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) and the Ministry of Sports took to social media to comment on the complaints made in recent days about Brazil’s uniforms for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Paris Olympics.
In a statement they denied that the Ministry of Sports (Mesp) is responsible for the production and supply of uniform kits and equipment for the Brazilian delegation. The Brazilian Olympic Committee (BOC) provides all Brazilian athletes with travel, parade, opening ceremony and daily clothing in the Olympic Village.
