A homemade cabbage salad, known as “coleslaw” – without mayonnaise, perfect as an accompaniment to light meals and grills
Recipe for 4 people.

cup = 240 ml, tablespoon = 15 ml, teaspoon = 10 ml, teaspoon = 5 ml
COLESLAW SALAD Ingredients:
– 2 cups white cabbage, sliced or grated
– 1 cup(s) red cabbage, sliced or grated
– 2/3 carrot(s), peeled and sliced or grated
– 1/2 unit red onion, sliced
HERBAL YOGURT SAUCE Ingredients:
– 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt
– 1 unit of lemon (juice)
– fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, chives, etc.) to taste * suggestion 1 1/2 tablespoons per 2 servings
– salt to taste
– pepper to taste THE
PREPARATION:
- Chop the white and red cabbage very finely. This can be done with a grater or a mandolin.
- Soak sliced or grated cabbage in a sodium hypochlorite solution and leave for 15 minutes.
- While the cabbage is soaking, peel it and cut it into thin strips or grate the carrot.
- Finely slice the red onion (optional).
- Wash and chop your favorite fresh herbs. If you like, mix a little of each. Leave wrapped in absorbent paper.
- Squeeze the lemon juice to use in the sauce.
- Set aside all the utensils and other ingredients needed for the recipe.
PREPARATION:
Herbal Yogurt Sauce:
- In a jar with a lid, mix the yogurt, lemon juice and herbs.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cover and shake the pot to obtain a smooth sauce.
- Store in the refrigerator until ready to assemble.
Cabbage:
- Drain the cabbage from the sodium hypochlorite solution.
- Wash well, dry and spin.
American Cabbage Salad (Coleslaw):
- In a bowl, place the chopped cabbage (red and white), the onion (optional) and the carrot.
- Shake the pan containing the sauce well to mix it well.
- Drizzle the vegetables with the prepared yogurt sauce and mix well until all the ingredients are well coated.
- Let the salad rest for 30 minutes in the refrigerator so that the flavors can intensify.
FINALIZATION AND ASSEMBLY:
- Serve to American Cabbage Salad Fresh as an accompaniment to grilled or roasted dishes.
