The warning is real: the weather is becoming extremely dry! The Government of the State of São Paulo has issued an official statement informing the population that the trend is towards a generally dry climate.
And let’s face it, it’s not a new thing to say that the lack of humidity directly affects our health. With this dull weather, it’s common to experience irritated eyes, sore throats, and even nosebleeds. And of course, your skin also suffers – a lot – from climate change, you know?
With that in mind, let’s recap a chat we had with Dr. Mariana Munizdermatologist and medical director at Merz Aesthetics LATAM, in 2021, bringing five necessary measures to avoid suffering from this dry climate!
Cleansing your skin is essential
It is recommended to use liquid facial soap when you wake up and before going to sleep. tt, how do I choose my ideal soap? Understand your skin type, whether it is oily, dry, sensitive and so on. When washing your face, be careful not to use water that is too hot, because you risk drying it out even more. When drying, pat it lightly with the towel to avoid possible damage.
Hydration!
The rule is clear: the skin is dry, the solution is to moisturize it a lot. Remembering that even the use of moisturizing creams must follow the needs of your skin. That is, dry, normal or oily. In addition to preventing irritation, hydration protects from external agents.
Want an extra boost? Then make sure you drink plenty of fluids in the coming days (and in life in general, right?). After all, the best hydration happens from the inside out.
Check your sunscreen
We often see the importance of using sunscreen, not only for UV rays, but it should also be used indoors (hello, home office), as the sun’s rays pass through windows. Use at least SPF 30 and with touch-ups, at least twice a day.
Wow, do you really need sunscreen at home? YES! According to Dr. Mariana, sunscreen should be used at home and on cloudy days, as part of your skincare routine. This is because visible light tends to age the skin and, in some cases, can cause blemishes. The ideal is to apply it carefully and reapply it mid-day, or in case of excessive sweating or after entering the pool/sea.
Makeup removal
Guys, this is no joke: DO NOT SLEEP WITH YOUR MAKEUP ON! Sleeping with your makeup on is a surefire way to prevent the buildup of impurities, oil, sweat, and pollution on your skin. And no one wants that, right?
So, clean everything before putting your princess to sleep. A great option for a deep clean and more thorough removal is to use a facial cleansing oil or micellar water.
Take care of yourself
Finally, always try to adopt healthy habits. Eat a balanced diet and exercise. Don’t forget to always try to get a good night’s sleep, which, like it or not, is called “beauty sleep” for a reason!
