Details and history of the competition
There are six groups, consisting of four teams, and the top two teams from each group and the four best third-placed teams advance to the knockout stage. The knockout duels will be unique.
The now extinct FIFUSA (International Indoor Football Federation) was the one that promoted the first World Cup, won by Brazil in 1982. The difference is that FIFA (International Federation of Football Associations) took over the management of indoor football and has hosted the World Cup since 1989.
Brazil is the most successful FIFA World Cup winner with titles in 1989, 1992, 1996, 2008 and 2012. Spain appears later with results in 2000 and 2004. Argentina won the 2016 World Cup and Portugal won the 2021 edition.
