Orange Upside Down Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups (tea) of natural orange juice
  • 2 cups sugar (tea)
  • 1/2 cup oil (tea).
  • 3 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Syrup:

  • 1 cup (tea) sugar
  • 1/2 cup (tea) water
  • 2 oranges, peeled and sliced

Preparation method:

  1. For the syrup, heat the sugar and water over low heat, without stirring, until a light golden syrup forms.
  2. Arrange the orange slices on the bottom and sides of a 9-inch cake tin.
  3. Spread the syrup over the oranges and set aside.
  4. Meanwhile, blend the juice, eggs, sugar and oil in a blender until smooth.
  5. Transfer to a bowl and add the flour and yeast and mix with a spoon.
  6. Pour the syrup into the pan over the oranges and then bake in a preheated medium oven for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Remove and wait for it to cool.
  8. Carefully turn out onto a plate and serve immediately.
