The expert provides tips for managing stress in the workplace
World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10th. The event was created by the World Federation for Mental Health, with the aim of promoting awareness on mental health. Furthermore, the date tries to highlight the importance of prevention of mental disordersencouraging interventions that aim to improve recovery practices around the world.
Brazil has a high incidence of mental illnesses. According to data released by Gallup, approximately 46% of workers feel more stressed at work working environment. The country currently occupies 4th place in the ranking of workers who feel the most anger and sadness.
Again according to the research, in addition to the stress that affects almost half of the workers, 25% of them reported feeling uncomfortable sadnessand 18% live together anger in everyday life. This reality can be fostered through the accumulation of functions, pressure and neglect of personal care.
Psychologist Denise Milk explains that these numbers could be a warning. “Stress, sadness and anger in the workplace don’t arise out of nowhere. They are the result of overloadlack of recognition and lack of adequate space for professionals to vent and express their emotions,” he explains.
For the specialist, these problems concern not only productivity, but also the quality of life of workers. “Frustration and helplessness are feelings that accumulate when professional demands exceed limits and there is no adequate emotional support,” he concludes.
