She, an implant recipient, explained in a video that the nodules were only found after an examination, as she had capsular contracture.
“Whenever capsular contracture occurs, we need to investigate the prosthesis capsule (send it for analysis and biopsy), as there is a rare type of lymphoma, called ALCL, that can occur in this capsule. In relation to my specific case, the lump appeared probably due to breast milk, which hardened and came into contact with the silicone implant,” he said.
“What caught our attention was the size of this nodule, which was approximately 8×4 cm and was located inside this capsule, i.e. in direct contact with my implant, which could have caused an infection. doctor explained that, in some cases, when faced with this situation, we remove the prosthesis and the capsule and “mount” the patient’s breast (without placing another implant for the moment, it is advisable to leave the patient without new prostheses for 3-6 months) a new surgery to place these new implants, due to the risk of infection,” he said.
He explained that it was possible to change the prosthesis, accompanied by a wash with antibiotics. “They only did it because they managed to completely remove the lump and all the sebaceous secretion I had in my breast. Successful operation!”, he underlined.
