Marvel at the creative abilities of celebrities

After rapper Kanye West’s McDonald’s burger box design caused quite a stir last week, here’s a roundup of 10 celebrity models.
West, now officially called Ye, is far from the first celebrity to make a foray into the world of design or architecture.
Below are examples of celebrities who have tried to show their creative skills, from a scooter designed by Justin Bieber to a furniture collection by Brad Pitt:
1. Hamburger Box by Kanye West for McDonald’s

American musician West has embarked on a number of well-known design projects, perhaps most successfully on his Yeezy sneaker line for sportswear brand Adidas, launched in 2015.
More recently, he collaborated with industrial designer Muji Naoto Fukasawa to reimagine McDonald’s packaging, swapping the fast food giant’s signature bright colors for a more understated look.
2. Justin Bieber’s wasp

Canadian singer Justin Bieber designed a monochrome version of the classic Vespa Sprint scooter decorated with white flames and his name in a graffiti-style font.
“Monochromatic things are very palatable to me and the flames were a way to add some jitters,” explained Bieber. “When I design, I always think: is this driving things forward? Is it unique? Is it something that is trendy?”
3. Furniture and household items by Gwyneth Paltrow for Goop

Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand Goop partnered with furniture company CB2 to launch a line in 2018 that reportedly included pieces designed by the star.
Paltrow created objects that reflected the design of her home in California, as well as the time she spent living in London with Coldplay ex-husband Chris Martin.
4. Travis Barker Skull Collection for Buster + Punch

Musician Travis Barker, best known as the drummer of the pop-punk band Blink 182, has designed a collection of skull-based household items, including a lamp, bowl and jamb for London-based brand Buster + Punch.
“I’ve always been obsessed with skulls, ever since I first saw artists like Pushead putting skulls on Misfits and Metallica albums, and Zero skateboards at the time,” said Barker.
“I’ve always loved them, they scream rock ‘n’ roll, they scream danger and poison. Skulls resist everything, so presenting them in this way is special.”
5. Björk’s sets and costumes for the Utopia tour

Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk helped design her own sets and costumes for her 2018 Utopia world tour, drawing inspiration from the paintings of her homeland and the almost uninterrupted daylight of the summer months.
In an interview with Dezeen, he explained how he tried to create “an opium-like trance in a utopian garden” by combining the natural with the artificial.
6. Pharrell Williams’ sneakers for Adidas

American music producer Pharrell Williams is another star who has actually launched a second career in design, through collaborations with clothing brands G-Star Raw and Adidas, including the colorful Solar Hu collection for the latter.
He first realized his design ambitions in 2010, creating a chair defined by an acrylic base similar to the caterpillars of a tank.
7. Untitled Residences of Pharrell Williams in Toronto

Like fellow musician Ye, Williams ventured into the world of architecture, working with Toronto studios IBI Group and U31 on a two-tower residential development in the southeastern Canadian city.
The project, which is still under construction, will be detailed with jagged balconies designed using parametric tools to create shapes from the sound waves of Williams’ Gust of Wind song.
8. Kate Moss Interiors for Yoo’s The Barnhouse

British supermodel Kate Moss created the interiors of a house in a luxury residential complex in the English Cotswolds from Yoo, an architecture and design firm founded by real estate entrepreneur John Hitchcox and prolific French designer Philippe Starck.
Yoo described Moss’s design as “a retro-glamorous version of the traditional English house”, while she herself called the house “a luxurious retreat in the woods, a perfect place to escape with family and friends”.
9. Will.i.am wireless headphones

Will.i.am is another record producer who has repeatedly turned their attention to design, even with a pair of vinyl record-inspired wireless headphones that form a necklace when not in use.
Previously, he launched two smartwatches, an eyewear collection in collaboration with George Gurrow and a range of lifestyle products made from recycled plastic bottles and aluminum with the help of Coca-Cola.
10. Brad Pitt’s furniture collection for Pollaro

Movie star Brad Pitt designed an eclectic collection of furniture, including a marble bed, tables, chairs and bathtub, in collaboration with furniture maker Frank Pollaro, which was unveiled in 2012.
The actor has expressed an interest in contemporary architecture and employed the services of Frank Gehry and David Adjaye in his Make It Right project, launched in 2006 to provide housing for New Orleans residents left homeless by Hurricane Katrina.
