Do you feel pain in your neck when using your cell phone? You may have “text neck syndrome”

The discomfort may appear accompanied by pain in the shoulders and spine; understand

You may have already felt some discomfort while using your cell phone. Perhaps, as time has passed, you have also noticed that the “discomfort” has become an acute and persistent pain. This happens because, when we tilt our head to look at the device, we increase the load on the cervical spine by up to 22 kg depending on the angle.

This practice, so common in everyday life, ended up generating what we now call “text neck syndrome”.

What is text neck syndrome?

This syndrome is characterized by an overload of the neck muscles, exactly what people tend to do during the day, spending hours with their head tilted downwards looking at the smartphone screen. And the symptoms are mostly pain in the neck region, which can start to go down to the shoulders and affect the entire spine in the long term.

For this reason, several studies are being carried out to find out how serious this syndrome can be and how it can affect the quality of life of human beings. Some of them point out that, in the long term, the “neck of the text” can cause injury to the cervical spine. However, research continues to confirm this information.

Furthermore, the use of smartphones is still new and for this reason it is necessary to continue evaluating its effects over the years to be certain about how it will influence people in the future.
