So, what should you pay attention to when choosing winter shoes:

  • winter shoes should only be worn with cotton socks or tights; synthetic materials will not be able to retain heat and absorb perspiration in the event of excessive sweating;
  • You should choose shoes with removable insoles, this will make them easier to dry if your feet are wet or sweat a lot;
  • All closed shoes must be dried. Drying and disinfection devices do an excellent job: the whole process takes place at night and in the morning the shoes are ready for the next day. Wet shoes cause unpleasant odors and fungal infections. Here it is worth remembering hygiene. Feet should be washed daily with soap and care products should be applied to clean, dry skin: cream or spray depending on your skin type. For dry skin, it is better to choose a cream, and for damp skin, a spray;
  • If you don’t have a shoe dryer at home, try not to wear the same pair of shoes several days in a row;
  • Warm, waterproof shoes will protect your feet from cold and humidity. Pay attention to the quality of the stitching and the material from which the shoes are made;
  • new shoes should not have a strong odor and should not be stained on the inside when wearing light-colored socks. This indicates poor quality dyes that can harm the health of nails and skin of the feet;
  • the sole should be thick enough, but at the same time flexible, soft and non-slip;
  • The optimal heel height is 2 to 6 cm. Anything higher or lower will increase the load on the front arch, increase deformation, and possibly cause pain and discomfort when wearing. A safe heel for women is up to 5 cm, for men – 1.5-2 cm. Shoes without heels are also harmful, as they increase the load on the back of the foot;
  • Shoes should always be chosen and tried on on two feet. Our bodies are not symmetrical and there may be a minimal difference in the size of the two feet;
  • when trying on, be sure to close all the fasteners, tie the laces, walk around and feel if you feel any discomfort;
  • shoes should match the fullness of the foot. Be careful to adjust the entirety with laces or ties. You should not choose models with a narrow nose, because your fingers should feel free;
  • choose shoes made of quality materials – leather, suede, textiles. Do not wear faux leather shoes, your feet will not breathe and will sweat;
  • pay attention to the inside of the shoe. There should be no rough seams or protruding inscriptions. The insole should not bend and the surface should be soft;
  • pay attention to the backdrop. This is what holds your heel in the shoe. It must be undeformable.

Following these recommendations will help you maintain healthy feet during the winter.
