“Lord, you have searched me and know me.
You know when I sit down and when I get up; From afar you understand my thoughts.
You surround my path and my rest; and you know all my ways.
Still no words in my tongue, behold, soon, Lord, you will know everything.
You surrounded me before and behind and laid your hand on me.
This science is wonderful to me; so high that I can’t reach it.
Where will I go from your spirit, where will I flee from your face?
If I ascend to heaven, here you are; If I make my bed in hell, well, you’re there too.
If it takes the wings of the dawn, if it dwells at the ends of the sea,
Until then your hand will guide me and your right hand will support me.
If I say, Surely darkness shall cover me; then the night will be light around me.
Not even the darkness hides me from you; but the night shines like the day; darkness and light are the same thing for you;
For you possessed my kidneys; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are your works, and my soul knows it very well.
My bones were not hidden from you, when I was formed in secret and woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my still shapeless body; and in your book all these things were written; which continually formed, when one did not yet exist.
