The promising initial results, obtained in studies with non-human mice and primates, indicate that the mixture called YCT-529 has shown a considerable ability to limit the production of sperm with apparently mild side effects.
In the experiments conducted on male mice, the contraceptive began to exercise its contraceptive effect in a period of a month after the start of the administration. The tablet was able to reduce pregnancy rates in their female partners of almost 100%. As regards male monkeys, although a higher dosage of the drug has been requested, a quick and significant reduction of the sperm tag has been observed without significant side effects.
“A safe and effective male pill will offer more options to couples for birth control. It will allow a more beautiful division of family planning and will give men’s reproductive autonomy,” Gunda Georg at the United States at Sciencealert said at the Minnesota University.
The search for non -hormonal alternatives arises in response to the challenges faced by the previous attempts to contracept the hormonal men.
