Interesting facts about the movie “Operation “Y” and other adventures of Shurik”

  • There were only two stories in the book that the movie was based on. In one, student Vladik Arkov was re-educating a gloomy, ignorant guy, and in the second, he was preparing slob Ilyusha for admission to a university.
  • Oleg Vidov, Vsevolod Abdulov, Vitaly Solomin, Sergey Nikonenko, Evgeny Zharikov, Gennady Korolkov, Valery Nosik and Alexander Zbruev were cast for the role of Shurik. But perhaps the most unexpected candidate is Evgeny Petrosyan.
  • It is believed that the gag with a bottle was invented by Yuri Nikulin right on the set. But this is not so: the scene with the “dying” Dunce was an impromptu director Leonid Gaidai.
  • The phrase “Announce the full list, please” was also inserted into the film by Gaidai. Once he was exactly the same with a cry: “Me!” – stepped forward when an officer came to his unit for army resupply and asked who wanted to join cavalry, fleet and intelligence. In the end, the military commissar couldn’t stand it and barked, “Yes, you’re waiting, Gaidai!” Let me tell you the whole list.”
  • For the filming of the third short story about the “robbery” of the trade base, the filmmakers drove 12 dump trucks with snow from out of town. But when poured onto the site, it immediately melted. I had to use cotton and naphthalene.
