For some, breakfast is an indispensable and fundamental meal to make available during the day, while other people prefer to skip this meal and care for lunch. But is coffee really the most important meal of the day?

“Since it is the first meal of the day, the breakfast plays a key role in the adjustment of appetite, contributing to the increase in satiety, reducing calorie intake during the day and improving general dietary quality”, explains Amanda Figueiredo, a clinical nutritionist

According to the expert, a balanced breakfast – consisting of lean protein sources, food fibers, healthy fats and whole carbohydrates – helps to maintain stable levels of glucose in the blood, preventing hunger peaks and promoting the continuous energy supply to the body.

“This is essential to support physical and mental performance in daily activities, as well as supporting the maintenance of healthy metabolism,” he adds.
