“Warriors of the Sun”: learn everything about the new soap work of Globoplay

The story revolves around the pink couple (Isadora Cruz) and Josué (Thomás Aquino)

The novel tells a love story in the times of war and will be set in the Backlands in the 1920s and 1930s

Malu spoke with the cast, the authors and the artistic director of Sun Warriors, Work inspired by the life of Lampião, Maria Bonita and several pairs of Cangaceiros who traveled in the north -est of Brazil. It will be a soap original Globoplay work, which will open on June 11 on the platform and the novels of Globoplay.

The story revolves around the pink couple (Isadora Cruz) and Josué (Thomás Aquino), two backcountry that fall in love immediately. However, to please her family, the girl agrees to marry Colonel Elói (José de Abreu), a rich and powerful widower of the city of Santa Cruz. However, Elói does not like to know Joshua’s intentions with his future wife and therefore causes a tragedy in the Alencar family house. In search of justice, Joshua and his brothers – Miracle (Italo Martins), Sabá (Vitor Sampaio) and Arduino (Irandhir Santos) – join the band of the expert Cangaceiro Miguel Ignácio (Alexandre Nero).

“It is a story of brothers and their fraternity and it is a story of strong women. It arrives with one foot in tradition and a burning and passionate desire to renew this narrative,” said one of the creators and authors of the plot, George Moura, during a press conference.

It is not a nice story

The plot will have some creative freedom and was completely recorded in 2023, in eight months, in more than three cities in the north of Brazil. “It is not the story of Maria Bonita and Lampião. He has freedom … The story of Maria Bonita, some books say that he had never shot, going in the battles. The one who was going, fought and had characteristics similar to the plot rose, is Dada. This brings a freedom to our new story,” said Isadora Cruz.

The protagonist actress revealed that she and part of the production visited the Angico Grota in Sergipe, where they found the bodies of Maria Bonita and Lampião. “We felt the real presence, that we were moving with the spiritual forces. Everyone, not to mention, started crying; all the bumps. We made a prayer and we asked for excitement,” he said. After praying on the spot, the actress believed she had received permission to live the character inspired by Maria Bonita.

Representation

In addition to Paraibana and Pernambuco who interpret the main couple, the mostly north -eastern actors make up the cast of the plot. “North actors -orientali who assume this story to tell. There is this belonging. I am telling a story from where I came. I count on my memory, with my ancestors. It has this strength. We expect this identification to reach the North -est,” said Laissa Gós, who gives life to Petunia in the novel.

“There is no one better than us to tell this story. It is in the air we breathe,” said Italo Martins, an interpreter of miracle.

For Thomás Aquino, who plays Joshua, it is a great happiness to be able to bring much of himself to his character. “I was able to bring many of this Thomás who is a sweet, happy and cheerful boy and put in a courageous, built through the life he leads, this heavy structure. Joshua is a right boy. He ends up in a revenge behind this colonel, played by José de Abreu,” said Thomás Aquino.

Isadora also took the opportunity to say that, in the Backlands, some people cried of excitement because Lampão changed their lives. “For them, it has been seen as a hero. Other people already did not even want to talk about him … to date there is this duality. I think that the soap operates, in general, is a hymn to the Backlands, because it portrays so much poetry what the Backlands and the backcountry are more beautiful and the relationships are deepened. And sees life in a more connected way with nature and intuition.”

The female force

The Soap Opera will also present a small face to which we are already used to. Nathalia Dill plays Valiana, a woman with breast cancer, who is married to a delegate and is defenseless when it receives the diagnosis. To prepare for the role, the actress brought experiences of women who face the disease today. However, due to the limited understanding of breast cancer science in the 1920s and 1930s, he found other ways to build his character. “I made an analogy with the Pandemia del Coronavirus. At that time, cancer was also an unknown and unprecedented disease that nobody knew how it was captured, if it were contagious, as healed or healed,” he said.

However, despite the progress in the medical field, the actress also underlines that the difficulties faced by these women still last. “Unfortunately, what has not changed was the way women need to face him. Valiana is completely rejected and abandoned by her husband, and by other men after him. One hundred years later, we still live it. A very beautiful thing that the series portrays is the after, the return – the way this woman takes the reins of her life,” said Nathalia.
