The name “Katun” is translated from the old Turkish language as “mistress”, “queen”, and it is fully consistent with the capricious character of the river. With its frantic power and rebellion, it is the best personification of the powerful nature in the region. The color of the water in the river is vivid turquoise, in certain places closer to the sapphire and in others in grayish.

Katun’s views attract many outdoor enthusiasts. An alloy on this river is an unforgettable adventure that bills energy and health. There are many thresholds of different complexity, but professional guides help to overcome them. It is not recommended to swim in – the water is cold and the flow is strong. Nevertheless, I tried my luck, and that applauded me a lot.
The most visited and easily accessible Altai waterfall. It is located on the left bank of the Katun river. The name was given to him by the Kamyshl river on which it is located. The height of the waterfall is 12 m – about a five -story building. The flows of the stream broke out, so it is magnificent.
In 1940, next to the waterfall, collective farmers built a wood mill, which during the war was converted into a sawmill. The logs were crossed on the river, and with the start of the cold, they transported on a sled on the ice. Here and now, you can find blackened logs with metal chains – all that remains of this mill. A visit to the Kamyshlinsky cascade is included in many tourist programs – feet and water.
This path is the attraction itself: the National Geographic newspaper included it in the top 10 the most beautiful roads in the world. She repeats the turns of Katun rebel. All Mountain Altai is revealed here in the palm of your hand.
This route is mentioned in Chinese Chronicles a thousand years ago. For a long time, the path was a narrow path, on which it was sometimes not possible to settle with two caravans coming in the opposite direction. Often, integrated animals, as well as guides, burst into the abyss of frozen slippery paths. In the summer of 1914, the author of the novel “Ugryum-River” Vyacheslav Shishkov after the expedition proposed to build a new path longer than the previous one, but by bypassing the three dangerous sites. The project has already been implemented by Soviet Power. In 1935, the chuysky tract was put into service. Originally from the highway of the Vasily Shukshin motorway in 1964 shot the film “A Tel Guy Lives”. Its action takes place on this path.
If you leave the CHUI tract at the 712nd kilometer, you can see the confluence of the two rivers. It has long been considered sacred – it is not usual to throw, swear and generally speak hard. A fascinating show can be seen from a revision site, on which there are always tourists during the day.
Katun in this place has a delicate turquoise shade and a sensitive cream, sometimes brown. When the two rivers are connected, their waters are not mixed and for a while, they go in parallel streams. And it looks incredible. The confluence of the two rivers is called the “camel neck”. Their turn really looks like this part of the body of a proud animal.
Incredible miracle of nature. Many tourists say he has special magnetism and strong energy. Lake Geyser is located just a kilometer from the Chuysky region, at an altitude of 1370 m above sea level. Its diameter is 30 meters and the depth is 2 meters. In the center of the thermal lake, sources are beaten, forming a bizarre drawing at the bottom.
You cannot swim in a pond. This threatens it: unique drawings can disappear. It is also dangerous for people: the composition of water is not studied, so we do not know how it affects the skin and the body of the human body. It is considered a magnificent place for contemplation. Lake Geyser is also called “Earth eye”. From a distance, it really seems that someone huge is constantly looking at him and ensures that the order reigns nearby. In addition, the lake has a hut on the chicken thighs, Baba Yaga, a snake ganynych and a bear with cubs.
The mountains of the Kyzyl-Chin River Valley were called “Altai Mars” because these landscapes recall a red planet. Scientists believe that millions of years ago in this area, there was a Relic Chuyskoye lake, which was formed as a result of the merger of the glaciers. When the water is gone, solar radiation, wind and precipitation gave the landscape the current appearance.
March on the Altai mountains is divided into several sites. The most popular among tourists “March -1” – where the color palette is mainly saturated with shades of yellow and orange shades. “Mars-2” is a more inaccessible place, you need to access it for about a red hour color that prevails in this area. “Mars-3” is the most remote area, purple and green sands prevail.
The largest complex of the season for Altai mountains, more than a million guests come here a year. It is much known by the song of Edita Piekhi, starting with the words: “Tell me, my friend, what are the wrists? Maybe it is an island? The complex is the largest thermal complex in Siberia with five swimming pools and eight types of saunas, where special rituals are organized for customers.
The active entertainment complex here is designed for a territory rest. During the summer season, you can ride on the bikes along the slopes, swim in hot lake. And in winter fans of ski leisure activities come here – they can conquer more than 20 slopes of different levels of complexity.
The most popular moment to relax in the Altai mountain is from June 20 to September 1. All tourist routes are available there. They come here to swim, fish, recover berries and cure herbs, engage in follow -up, rafting, mountaineering. In the fall, cedar nuts, mushrooms, lingonberries, cranberries are collected here, and they admire the gold landscapes. In winter, you can relax in many Campas and participate in snowmobile visits. In the spring, the flourishing red dromage makes the landscapes fabulous, and the chances of looking at wild animals are higher than in other seasons.
