The term is used to cite the relaxation of the face and the loss of volume caused after the use of pens for weight loss
The popularity of the ozempic and traffic lights -based medicilals based on semaglutide, initially developed to treat type 2 diabetes has exploded in recent years due to its significant effect on weight loss. However, with weight loss, a new aesthetic concern emerged: the “Ozimpic face”.
This term, which has become popular in social networks, refers to the relaxation of the face and the loss of volume that can occur in people who suffer a quick and substantial loss.
“The face of weight loss, with a strong loss of face fat compartments, today are the characteristics of the people who use LPG-1 inhibitors such as Ozepic, Mounjaro and Wegovy”, explains Dr. Maria Paula of Nero Dermatologist.
These drugs act on the rapid loss of subcutaneous fat, including face fat. “When this loss is very fast, the ligaments of the skin and support do not have time to re -read, resulting in more obvious leftovers and grooves,” says the expert.
This rapid weight loss also causes a weakening of collagen and elastin. “The rapid reduction of the facial volume, added to a possible nutritional deficit during weight loss, can reduce the synthesis of collagen and elastin, making the skin less firm.”
Weight loss can also cause changes in the muscle tone. “With fewer fats to fill and support face muscles it can become more evident, but also losing support, accentuating wrinkles and relaxing,” says the doctor.
How to improve the relaxation of “ozempica face”:
The ideal strategy combines prevention, the treatments stimulating collagen and, in some cases, the restoration of the volume and involves some procedures:
1. Encourage collagen and elastin
• with injectable biostimulators: polylactic acid (Plla), calcium hydroxiapitis
2. Facial volume replacement
• With fillers of hyaluronic acid to reposition and redefine the contours.
• Lipofilling graft or regenerative techniques with fat cells derived from fat.
3. Maintenance of the quality of the skin
• Topical retinoids (such as Adaptene or Trentinoin) for cell renewal.
• Antioxidant topic (vitamin C, ferulic acid) to protect against free radicals.
• Oral supplementation of peptide collagen associated with vitamin C (if there is no contraindication).
Prevention during the use of pens for weight loss is the most recommended. The doctor recommends:
• Avoid very quick weight loss (if possible to gradually reduce doses).
• Trace with the nutritionist to maintain an adequate protein contribution.
• Start the stimulus treatments of collagen in the first months of use of drugs. “Several works show that this is the best strategy,” concludes the expert.
