In one of the interactions with followers, an Internet user commented that he seemed to be doing better. Carolina explained that what appears on the networks does not necessarily mean an improvement in the clinical picture. “I think this different brilliance that you talk about is due to the fact that I entered a phase where I had already come to terms with everything,” he said. “Now I try to enjoy some moments when the pain is more tolerable, bearable. And then I seem to feel better, happier, but these moments are rare.”
Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic neurological condition that causes sudden, intense pain in the facial region. The affected nerve is responsible for facial sensitivity and, if injured or compressed, causes seizures described by patients as strong electric shocks.
In August Carolina underwent surgery in Santa Casa de Alfenas, in the south of Minas Gerais. She underwent surgery and was under deep sedation for four days. According to the doctor responsible for the case, Carlos Marcelo de Barros, the team decided not to carry out further interventions. Treatment will continue to focus on pain control and maintaining quality of life.
The young woman also took a public position in defense of the right to assisted death.
